It was a busy day for Tullamore junior hockey girls as they criss crossed the province playing multiple games in Bray, Abbotstown, Kildare and Mullingar. Meanwhile the boys played their first games at home in the Harriers.

Mullingar hosted the November beginners blitz and our young players were involved in many games throughout the morning. Despite the persistent drizzle all enjoyed their hockey. Players: Martha Keohane, Doireann Dooley, Michaela Raben, Cliodhna Hennessy, Charolette Mathews, Maeve Jordan, Maria Finlay, Bria Daly, Eve Crowley and Aine O’Brien.

Our 6th class and 1st years played Leinster 8s League games in Kildare and Bray. This was the first 8s Leinster League fixture for the 6th class Black Cats Team. They showed great determination and good stick work to win the game 5-0.

Black Cats: Mia Ravensberg, Sinead Flanagan, Adele O’Donoghue, Abbey Ravensberg, Grace Malone, Sadbh Keohane, Sunniva Horneck Johnson, Lillian Clear, Niamh Keyes, Aoife Worrell and Sophie Hammill.

Meanwhile the 1st Year Blue Tigers played some fantastic hockey and showed great individual skill and team work against Bray. Well done to all involved.

Blue Tigers: Elodie Lebourhis, Aoibheann Birney, Jane Smith, Alice Ward, Hannah Bannisssdi, Amy Bagnall,Hannah Walsh, Ella Gilmartin, Aine Byrne, Julia Slattery and Aoife Greene.

The u16s had the earliest start of the day with a 10am push back against Dublin North in the National Sports Centre. Tullamore were under pressure from the start and while chances came their way the end score of 5-0 reflected the immense pressure they had to endure. This young squad will continue to develop and benefit from these games.

Team: Katie Hennessy, Amalie Lebourhis, Catherine Lambe, Aishling Flaherty, Ellen Crowley, Emily Thomas, Suzie Raben, Jessica Raben, Lizzy Burns, Siobhan Greene, Emily Mulrooney and Ruth Flaherty.

Boys hockey in Tullamore is growing in strength this year and they continue to train and welcome new players at Tuesday 6-7pm training sessions. They played their first match this season against North Kildare in the Harriers. 3rd and 4th class played Kildare’s u10s while 5th and 6th class and 1st years challenged their u13s. For many this was their first inter club fixture and they will eagerly await their next fixture in Naas.

A big thanks to all the coaches who give their time to training teams, the umpires and the parents who travelled, mentored and encouraged all the players.
