The Inspecting Officer at this year's Remembrance Day commemorations in Omagh will be local man, Bob Lingwood, who recently celebrated his 100th birthday!
The chairman of the Omagh RBL branch, Richard Scott MBE, explained: “In a year when we are remembering the end of World War One, here we have an Inspecting Officer born in that very year, 1918! I am sure that there are very few legions in the country that can say they are having a Remembrance Day with a man of the man the stature of Bob, a man that is so respected in his adopted local community.
“Bob is a remarkable man who I have been honoured to get to know of late. He is an inspiration to all that know him and especially the young to whom he is a real role model. The branch had no hesitation when it came to deciding our Inspecting Officer for 2018 so I do hope that the community will come out to have the honour of being inspected by and being in the presence of this wonderful man.”
