BALLYMENA United Allstars Ladies Football Club captain Rebekah Reynolds rounded off a remarkable season on Friday evening after being crowned Championship Player of the Year by the NI Women’s Football Association!
Rebekah led the Allstars to an outstanding victory in the Championship League Cup in September, scoring a hat-trick to seal the win for the Sky Blues.
At the awards evening in the Hilton Hotel, Belfast, Rebekah faced stiff competition in the form of Olivia Brown from League Champions Comber Rec Ladies and Roisin Devlin of Killen Rangers Ladies.
But the Sky Blue striker’s consistency and match winning performances saw her take home the prestigious award.
Reacting to her win, Rebekah said: “I was absolutely delighted to have even been nominated for the award, but to win it, playing for the club I love, is an honour and a privilege.”
“None of this would have been possible without the hard work and commitment of my team mates and the management at the club.
“I hope that I can be a role model for the younger girls and show them that anything is possible whilst playing at your local club.”
Mark Livingstone, Chair of Ballymena United Allstars LFC, congratulated Rebekah on behalf of the Club.
“We are extremely proud of Rebekah and absolutely delighted that she has received national recognition,” he said.
“She is a leader on the pitch and an inspiration to our junior girls coming through our Academy.
She is a fantastic player and a fantastic person. No-one deserves this award more than Rebekah!”
