LIMAVADY ladies 1st XI began their Senior 2 League campaign at home on Saturday against the formidable Saintfield at Limavady Grammar School.
The home team had the majority of the possession, creating several opportunities but could not capitalise on the very positive play. Unfortunately, Saintfield made a strong counter-attack down the right hand side and with persistence, they took their chance to finish within 10 minutes.
Limavady started the second half in the same vain with a number of penalty corners awarded. However, the Saintfield keeper was on top form and Limavady were unable to convert with near misses from Rhonda McClelland's straight strike, and Rachel Barr's deflection.
The game ended 1-0 to Saintfield but Limavady were very encouraged by the strong positive play and are looking forward to the remainder of the season.
Player of the Match was Shauneen Mullan. Thanks to Julie McCartney for umpiring.
