LIMAVADY archer Ben Quigg is celebrating this week after finishing third in the recent Ulster Open Championship, his first medal since he graduated to the ranks of the Senior Competition. The Freestyle competition at which Ben competed at in Lady Dixon Park, Belfast attracted all the sport's top archers.
Ben is now entering his third year of studies at the University of Teeside and as part of his placement, is working as a physiotherapist for Middlesborough FC. During his trips home to the Roe Valley, he works as an outdoor pursuits instructor with Carrowmena Activity Centre.
Said Ben: "I started archery about 12 years ago in Limavady, I was playing cricket at the time and thought archery might make my game stronger, luckily I took to it naturally and started to have success.
“From the ages of 12 to 15, nobody across the UK could beat my scores until I was eventually bested by someone from Germany. My competition scores at the time were around the top of the European rankings and the Worlds.
