If there was such a thing as a two point hammering then Antrim got it in this clash at Owenbeg.
For most of the game, they were on the back foot against a Derry team that grew in confidence as the hour progressed and played with a lot more passion.
At the three quarter stage, Derry led by 2-9 to 0-5 and at the end of the hour, they were a comfortable 2-11 to 1-6 in front. In the four minutes of added time, the Saffron's, now down to 14 men, hit two goals that reduced the Derry lead to two points.
Antrim have dominated this competition since its inception, winning 36 times including the last seven in a row. Derry have won it five times, the last being in 2008 and they now face 12 time winners Down in the final next Wednesday evening. Down had a massive 8-20 to 1-15 win over Armagh in the other semi final.
Having dominated Derry at minor level over the past few years, the Glensmen travelled to Owenbeg as hot favourites. With six hours of non stop rain prior to the start, there could have been doubts about the game being played but the Owenbeg surface was perfect with not even a spot of mud in sight.
