Dominant Limavady overcome Everton America to take Shield home thumbnail

LIMAVADY U16s finished off an extremely busy week in style with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Everton America, winning the Shield and finishing a very respectable 13th in the process.
The match started fairly evenly with Zack McKenna and Colly Mullan working superbly together in midfield to break up any danger, while Aaron Devlin constantly threatened out wide with countless through balls and long-range deliveries to forward Tiarnan Woods, yet there were no clear-cut chances in the opening 15 minutes.
As Everton America now searched for the breakthrough, Lucas Goligher refused to be beaten at the back with an outstanding last ditch tackle the highlight of several important interceptions.
Both sides were now in the contest yet it was United who came closest, firstly through a terrific break and driven shot from Oran Whiteside that was well kept out, and secondly through a fierce Woods effort that whistled past the far post.
