TWENTY year old James Walton from the host Triangle Triathlon Club won the Roe Valley Sprint Triathlon in the middle of great competition from his rivals.
James swam 750 meters (30 lengths) in 9 mins 31 secs, rode 20k (12.5 miles) in less than 32 mins and ran over three miles in under 18 mins for a finishing time of just four seconds outside the hour.
He was pushed all the way by his rivals Gavin Corry from Omagh who finished 37 secs behind and also by Finbar McGraddy of the Newry Tri Club who was a further five seconds back.
The race, which was sponsored by Xperience, Gabriel Devin Motors and the Kevin Watson Constructions Group, has been in its present incarnation for over 20 years and is seen by many as the start of the Triathlon season in the Limavady, Coleraine and Magherafelt area.
