BOARD members of Limavady United are calling for cross-community support as plans were unveiled last week for a new multi-million pound sports hub located at the grounds of the Orange Field. Supporters and members of the public were invited to view plans for the new development at an event held at The Showgrounds on Friday (March 24).
This follows the news the club is seeking to relocate to a new ground as its current ground lease is due to run out in October 2028, after the owners of the ground, Queen's University, rejected all requests for an extension of the lease.
Timmy Dixon, Limavady United board member and Chair of Limavady Youths, told the Northern Constitution he was pleased with initial feedback to the new state of the art proposals.
He said: "There was a low turn out but there was also not much negativity to the plans, which I see as initially very positive.
“There were very few complaints and everything was looked on positively. An issue was raised regarding the new lights at the hub but the architect reassured that any issues raised were being taken into consideration.
