Roesiders claim late win thumbnailLimavady 1st XV winger Mark Woods playing against Randalstown on Saturday.

Limavady.............20 Randalstown...............18

LIMAVADY left it late to claim the victory points over Randalstown last Saturday at The John Hunter Memorial Grounds.
After building up a 14 point halt-time lead, the Roe Men needed a last minute Peter Wilson penalty to claim the win against a Randalstown side that bossed much of the second half.
Despite the chill in the air, playing conditions were near perfect for rugby but in the opening quarter, both sides found it difficult to get any fluidity into their game. Some 17 minutes elapsed before the first score of the game arrived. Jack McCool converted a penalty. Randalstown had an opportunity to quickly level proceedings after Limavady failed to take control from the restart. This resulted in a penalty but Martin Connolly's attempt drifted wide however he did make amends on 27 minutes when he tied matters after Limavady were penalised at a scrum.
It was a somewhat lethargic first half hour from Limavady but that Randalstown score sparked some life into them in the run up to half time.
On 30 minutes, Daniel Irvine and Sam Mackey made big inroads into the visitors '22' and scrum half Jamie Millar did the rest for the game's first try. Jack McCool converted before retiring from the game with a shoulder injury. Peter Wilson took over the kicking duties and on 37 minutes, he converted a Chrissy Hunter try.
It was a blistering end to the half from the Roesiders who probably didn't want to hear the half-time whistle sound. Half Time: Limavady 17 v 3 Randalstown.
On a high
With Limavady finishing the half on a high, they knew that, if they got the next score, the game would be as good as over but whatever was said to the Randalstown players at the break by their management team seemed to breath new life into the County Antrim side.
