United back on form thumbnailLimavady United players congratulate Declan McKeever after he scored against Newington on Saturday.

LIMAVADY United finally got back to league action on Saturday with a home game against North Belfast side Newington. The Roesiders have always found this a feisty encounter as the visitors play with a physical style but while there were a few testy exchanges throughout the 90 minutes, United ran out easy winners.
The visitors handed the champions an early Christmas present in the fourth minute when Lee Harkin exchanged passes with Robbie Hume on the edge of the box before shooting low to Archer's left. The Newington keeper inexplicably fumbled the ball marginally over the line with the goal given by an alert 16 year old linesman.
The next 15 minutes were largely played in the United half but Wells, in the home goal, had little to trouble him. United then extended their lead in the 25th minute through Declan McKeever who followed up his own pile driver which bounced back off the post to shoot home, despite a sliced attempt to clear the ball from a full back.
United then missed a great chance to extend their lead when Hume got on the end of Morrison's perfect cross but somehow contrived to head wide of the post when free in the box.
Newington had their best spell just after the half hour with Burns turning and shooting wide of the post on 33 minutes and then shrugging off two challenges on the edge of the box but shooting well off target.
They were gifted a way back into the game on 37 minutes when Watt misjudged a high ball outside the box and Scollay pounced on the loose ball and fired home with a cool finish.
However, Watt redeemed himself a minute before the break, heading home powerfully from a corner.
