Christmas comes to Market Street

Christmas comes to Market Street thumbnailChristmas lights have now been erected in Market Street, Limavady.

LIMAVADY'S Market Street has been bedecked with Christmas lights following representations to council by Ald Alan Robinson and members of the Roe Valley Chamber of Commerce. Originally, Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council had not planned to erect any street lighting in the town's pedestrian area due to a planned Revitalise Scheme which is due to take place next year.
However, after representations were made to council, last year's lights have been put up through the busy shopping street.
Alderman Robinson told The Northern Constitution that he was relieved that festive cheer has been brought to Market Street following the erection of the lighting.
Mr Robinson said: "Having been lobbied heavily by traders and local residents, and having subsequently held a series of meetings and communicated with Council Officers, I am pleased that a compromise position has been arrived at.
