Paint the towns blue and white
Thursday, 13 April 2017
THE Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor James McCorkell has asked Council to decorate Limavady and Coleraine in blue and white to mark the recent success of each of their local football clubs.
Councillor McCorkell has also asked that Council buildings in both towns be lit up in blue and white, the colours of Limavady United and Coleraine FC, after the Roesiders reached the final of the Intermediate Cup while the Coleraine team reached the final of the Irish Cup. The Deputy Mayor said this was a "unique and historic occasion for both towns in the borough" and appealed for everyone to get behind the players, cheer them on to a double win for Limavady and Coleraine and hopefully see them bring more silverware back to the North West.
Councillor McCorkell, who has been a keen follower of the Roesiders both home and away this season, said he was delighted for Limavady player manager Paul Owens and his group of players after Limavady defeated Hanover FC 5-2 in the semi-final of the Intermediate Cup in a match played in Castledawson.
