United secure place in fourth Intermediate Cup Final

Limavady United..............5 Hanover............2
MAKE no mistake about it - this was a much tougher game for the Roesiders than the score would indicate and Hanover can take pride in a battling performance.
The only statistic that matters is that United will face Linfield Swifts in their fourth Intermediate Cup Final but Hanover had United rattled and shrugged off the fact that they played for almost an hour with ten men after losing their captain to a straight red card and were still in the game until the last few minutes.
United had a late change when Lee Harkin failed a late fitness test and his place was taken by his namesake Connor but they started cautiously with an early half chance from McCready whose low shot was well saved by White.
That patient start was blown away - and with it Paul Owens' game plan - when the Mid Ulster side went ahead on seven minutes. A cross from the left was not defended properly and two chances to clear were missed with McIlveen steering home a rebound off the post to spark wild celebrations from their large and noisy support.
The favourites were shell shocked and for a few minutes, completely lost their shape. However they settled their nerves and gradually took control of the game with their slicker passing game. McFadden should have equalised when he ghosted into a great position to volley a corner over from the edge of the box.
Then on 17 minutes, Owens smashed the ball off the bar with a powerful volley. Connor Harkin was next to have an effort, which didn't trouble White, and then McCready powered through the Hanover defence before putting a low cross along the goal line but the ball was hacked away at the back post.
