Donard Challenge 2017
ON Saturday April 8, the Northern Ireland Mountain Running Association (NIMRA) hosted the opening round of the British Fell Running Championships, attracting the elite of the British and Irish mountain running fraternity to Slieve Donard.
While the warm sunny conditions were ideal for the spectators, they make an already tough course even more challenging.
Prior to the British Championship Donard Challenge, NIMRA hosted the Northern Ireland Junior Mountain Running Championships which saw athletes cover 6.2k with 400m of ascent.
In the Girl's race, Springwell Running Club's Molly Brennan put in a strong performance to claim first place.
Callums Run Buncrana
ICARE (Inishowen Children's Autism Related Education) hosted a 5K in memory of Callum Dale on Saturday April 8.
Callum Dale, 13, who had Asperger's Syndrome, died in tragic circumstances in Buncrana in 2014. Almost 200 people turned out at this year's annual run in memory of Callum.
Participants started and finished their run at the ICARE Centre, Ballymacarry. ICARE was set up in 2000 to provide support, training and information to families living in the Inishowen area. Their vision is 'to improve the quality of life of individuals with autism and their families throughout their lives.'
