Plans for shared education campus moves ever closer
Thursday, 16 March 2017
TWO Limavady schools have moved a step closer in implementing their vision for a shared education campus. St Mary's and Limavady High School's shared education proposal will provide a state of the art shared educational campus, addressing a number of key educational and community issues facing both schools.
The shared campus would provide a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) campus at Limavady High and a Sixth Form careers/drama/media campus at St Mary's.
Approval for the shared education campus and a £6.8m business case has already been approved by the Department of Education and in June last year, a project board was established to oversee the management of the project and the delivery of the new facilities.
With representatives from both schools, the Department of Education, Education Authority and Council for Catholic Maintained Schools, the project board has now received approval to tender for the integrated design team which will carry out the detailed design and planning for the new school buildings.
A public consultation will take place next month and is open to everyone.
