Noreenís New Year Challenge thumbnailNorthern Constitution reporter Noreen McEldowney who is taking on the Limavady Fitness Factor challenge along with 13 other Limavady women to help raise funds and awareness for Cancer Focus NI.

IT'S the New Year and with that comes the 'New Me'. A lot of my friends, including my husband, don't like the New Year and some hate the thought of New Years Resolutions. For me, however, I love it. Maybe its because I am an eternal optimist, when one door closes and another one opens and all that. And maybe it's because I get excited at the thought of what the New Year ahead has in offer. What will I do this year that I haven't done before" What can I achieve and what can I forget?
So like most people, I wanted to get fitter, slimmer and basically healthier. Then I heard about Limavady's 'Fitness Factor.'
CrossFit Limavady has teamed up with Cancer Focus Northern Ireland to bring an innovative and inspiring fitness challenge for local people.
It is a six week challenge which would be led by local men Andy Chapman and Michael Walsh and aims at helping men and women change their lifestyle for the better and help reduce the risk of certain cancers.
I was familiar with CrossFit, the first time I ever seen a CrossFit gym was in St Kilda, Melbourne. I remember walking past what looked like a garage and seeing men and women performing somersault type exercises on a two metre high pole.
