LIMAVADY man, Bro William Hamilton of Ballynarrig Bible and Crown Defenders LOL 650, recently stepped down from the position of Treasurer of his lodge after serving in the role for a record breaking 74 years. Mr Hamilton followed in the footsteps of his late father who had served as lodge treasurer from 1916 until September 1942.
To show their appreciation, a large number of Orangemen gathered in Ballynarrig Orange Hall on Tuesday January 3, to mark this momentous occasion.
Brethren from Ballynarrig LOL 650 were joined by the Grand Master of the Orange Order, Most Wor Bro Edward Stevenson; newly elected Grand Chaplain of the Grand Lodge, Wor Bro John Noble; County Grand Master of County Londonderry Grand Orange Lodge, Rt Wor Bro Hugh Stewart; Wor Bro Mark Smyth, WDM Limavady district and Wor Bro Keith Thompson, District Treasurer Limavady district, as well as visitors from Garvagh District LOL No 4, Ballymoney District LOL No 16 and several of the private lodges from Limavady District LOL No 6.
