COUNCILLOR James McCorkell has called for the immediate clean up of the electricity substation building on the Edenmore Road.
He said the substation and the immediate area had once again fallen foul to graffiti and general untidiness and said he would be in contact over the next few days with the relevant authorities to have the area cleaned up.
He continued to explain that in recent years, his DUP colleague Councillor Alan Robinson had worked closely with the local community to have murals erected and to improve the overall appearance of the area. He said that it was "disappointing therefore that once again we see this particular area in such a state."
Following his leaflet drop on the lower part of Edenmore Road last week, Councillor McCorkell also said he had received complaints from local residents about dog fouling along pathways.
He said one particular resident who needed a wheelchair to get around was finding it difficult to move along the paths as the dog foul was becoming attached to the wheels of the chair and transferring to the resident's hands.
Cllr. McCorkell said that dog fouling was an ongoing problem and encouraged everyone to use the bins that had recently been put in place in the area following similar complaints over the summer last year.
